Charjabug - Stats and Moveset

Charjabug is the bug and electric type pokemon. Its stats are attack 145, defense 161, and stamina 149. The CP of level 40 is only 1697, and the CP of level 50 is only 1919. Observing the stats of Charjabug, we can see that its defense is relatively outstanding, but the degree of protrusion is not obvious. Therefore, although Charjabug is a pokemon with good bulkness, it is not as bulky as that of several representative tanks. Below is a list of common pokemons in the great league to compare with Charjabug. The attack of Charjabug is 116 which is similar to Alola sandslash, but there is some gap compared with Medicham. Therefore, it shows that Charjabug is a pokemon with low attack and good bulkness.

After Charjabug learns Volt Switch, because the speed of charging energy of the Volt Switch is better than that of Spark, the Volt Switch will replace Spark as the most recommended fast move, and the recommended skill set of Charjabug becomes Volt Switch + X-Scissor / Discharge or Crunch.

Vikavolt - Stats and Moveset

Vikavolt and Charjabug are both bug and electric type pokemon. The stats of Vikavolt are attack 254, defense 158, and stamina 184. The CP of level 40 can reach 3117, and the CP of level 50 can reach 3524. Different from the Charjabug, the attack of the Vikavolt is significantly higher than its defense and stamina, which shows that the Vikavolt is a pokemon with better attack. Common pokemons in the great league are listed for comparison with Vikavolt. The attack of Vikavolt is 146.4 which is higher than Machamp, it shows that Vikavolt is a pokemon with very outstanding attacks.

The moveset of Vikavolt is very similar to that of Charjabug. The only difference is that the Vikavolt can use Mud-Slap. However, because the data of Mud-Slap is poor, it is usually not recommended to use it in battle, so the recommended moveset of Vikavolt is the same as that of Charjabug, which are Volt Switch + X-Scissor / Discharge or Crunch.

Meta Perspective

Although Vikavolt and Charjabug did not obtain the special and powerful move in the community day, Volt Switch improves the performance of energy charging and this allows them to use Discharge and Crunch two turns earlier, which more or less made them improve their battle performance. Referring to the ranking given by the battle simulation website PvPoke, because of Charjabug’s bulkiness advantage, the current ranking of 67th in the great league is quite good, and it is very worthy for trainers to cultivate one. However, due to Vikavolt’s poor ranking, Vikavolt is not recommended for trainers to climb the elo.

Before Spark was debuffed, Charjabug was already a pokemon that performed quite well in battles. However, since the bug type was not very popular in battles, trainers could hardly see it on the battlefield. This time, although its rank is quite high due to Volt Switch, but in an environment that is dominated by the Steelix, whether we can continue to see the Charjabug appear will have to continue to observe the trainers' acceptance of its types.

Spicy Perspective

Although Vikavolt is quick to throw the charged move, because the DPE of the moves are not as top-notch as Wild Charge and Close Combat, the threat that each of its moves can generate is quite limited (just like no one is afraid of Gengar's Shadow Punch), therefore, the opponent will often obtain an advantage before Vikavolt due to the better bulkiness. Because of this, Vikavolt is quite difficult to operate, make sure you have a wonderful operation before using it in battles.
